How to Drive Online – Parent Taught Driver Education Course

AAA’s How to Drive curriculum is approved by the Iowa Department of Transportation for the Parent Taught Driver Education. This 30-hour course can be utilized in two ways: through parent-led instruction utilizing the How to Drive teaching and student materials or through our convenient, self-paced online course

Both courses include a supplemental list of resources and behind-the-wheel lesson plans.

The online course can also be utilized by anyone learning to drive for the first time and wants to learn more to supplement their education.

AAA launched the redesigned How To Drive - watch the video

StartSmart

StartSmart is an online webinar for parents of teens who are – or soon will be learning to drive. This two-hour online course prepares parents to navigate their teen’s learning-to-drive experience. This course demonstrates how to reinforce what your teen is learning in driver education and how to maximize the practice driving that you’ll do with them. AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety research is highlighted throughout this course.
