AAA is proud to celebrate the School Safety Patrol program's centennial. Since 1920, patrollers across the world have provided school-aged children with an extra sense of safety and security as they travel to and from school. Each year, more than 679,000 patrollers participate at over 35,000 schools throughout the country.
Proudly, the program has contributed to the steady decline of student pedestrian (5 to 14-year-olds) U.S. deaths – a 24% decrease since 2010. Read here for stories of past patrollers and watch this timeline video.
