Segment 1

The first step in your teen getting their license! Segment 1 driver education includes both the classroom and behind-the-wheel education. The course consists of 24 hours of classroom using our How to Drive curriculum. How to Drive is nationally recognized for its skillful integration of classroom instruction with behind-the-wheel training. For the behind-the-wheel portion, you may choose between two options:

  • Basic — Six hours of on-road instruction and four hours of observations
  • Premium — Eight hours of on-road instruction and four hours of observations

Teens must be at least 14 years and 8 months old at the start of class.

Please select a course carefully, one without conflicts in your teen’s schedule. Students may only miss class due to unforeseen circumstances; any missed classes must be made-up.

Segment 2

This six hour course targets high risk driving topics such as impaired, drowsy, and distracted driving.

To be eligible, teens must have:

  • Held their Level 1 License for at least three consecutive months
  • Have 30+ hours of driving practice, with at least two hours at night

If your teen took segment 1 with AAA Driver Training and the parent/guardian is a AAA Member, upon successful course completion, your teen will receive a complimentary one-year AAA Associate Membership.
