Professional Development for Michigan Driver Education Instructors

The State of Michigan requires that Driver Education Instructors take a professional development course every two years to retain their certification.  AAA's "How to Use How to Drive" is approved through the Michigan Department of State as a professional development course.

This course will familiarize you with the AAA How to Drive 15th edition curriculum.  You'll learn how to access the course materials, how to utilize the curriculum, and the special features of the curriculum.  This course consists of two parts.  Part one is an email correspondence course which should last approximately one hour. Part two is done in a virtual setting with live instruction and lasts approximately three hours.  You must have video and audio capability in order to participate in the virtual course.

After registering, you'll receive an email within two business days with instructions to complete part one of the course.  Please note that the date you are registering for is part two.  You must complete part one and have your AAA How to Drive materials before participating in part two of the course.  When part one and two of the course have been completed, you'll receive a certificate via email.
